How busy is your autumn?
Why does summer seem to fly by? School gets out in June. We celebrate July 4th, then bam! It’s time for a new school year to begin. The pace of life seems to go faster at the end of August into September. Does this happen to you? How can we stay organized when life seems to speed up? Here are 3 tips.
- Use lists. Create a check list of all the things that need to get done. Break down larger projects into manageable steps and be sure to list them as well. Just by writing down all your projects and tasks you’re more likely to accomplish them. Once they’re written down, you can plan and prepare instead of trying to keep a mental list of all the things that need doing.
- Schedule your to dos. Time won’t magically appear on your calendar. You have to make time to get your projects and tasks done. Carve out time to work on what you want to accomplish by scheduling 2 to 3 hours of work time.
- Delegate. Ask for help from family, friends, and professionals. Be specific with directions and details, but allow your helpers to get the tasks done in their own way. They will save you time and aggravation.
I hope these tips will help you stay organized when life gets busy. Please share any steps you take to make this happen. I’d like to hear about your endeavors.
Getting rid of paint?
My husband took on several small painting jobs around the house this summer. Before starting we looked through all the paint we had stored in the basement. We realized we had several almost-empty-cans. So we wanted to get rid of them. Did you know that latex paint can be dried up and then tossed with your household trash? You can dry it by opening the can and letting it air dry for a few weeks, before tossing. This works best if there is just a bit of paint left. If you have more paint in the can it can be dried by mixing it with an equal amount of kitty litter. Then give it time to dry out before tossing it. However, oil-based paint is a different story. It is hazardous waste and needs to be disposed of properly at a drop-off center. More information can be found here.
Is there something that you struggle to get rid of? Need a resource? Please ask me. I’m happy to help.
