Happy Spring!
Are you as happy as I am to welcome the colorful season of spring? It’s been a cold, windy winter, and I’m ready for the change of season. But before we leave winter behind, I’d like to share some of the projects I’ve been helping my clients with during the snowy weather.
- Packing up holiday decorations: Realizing what decorations no longer make the cut, and preparing for a time saving set up for the next holiday season were important steps in this project. Looking to get rid of some things, if so many senior centers take holiday cards and decorations to give out to their patrons.
- Downsizing to a smaller home: A key role in this downsizing project was guiding and supporting the homeowners as they assessed and pared down their belongings. I acted as a sounding board during decision-making, physically assisted with removing items for donation, and provided valuable donation resources. For general donations we used Goodwill and Clean Out Your House. For textile and clothing donations we used Bay State Textiles. For shredding, Mansfield Shredding Service was used, and Junkluggers was used for the remainder of items.
- Organizing kitchen cupboards: When organizing this kitchen, discussions centered around determining a reasonable quantity of items to keep and the ideal storage placement. Helpful tip: animal shelters gladly accept used kitchen towels, but always call to confirm before doing so.
- Reclaiming a desk area in kitchen: Evaluating clutter that has accumulated and corralling office supplies was a priority in this project. Encouraging the homeowner to remove unused items and relocating things that weren’t used in this space, helped improve the efficiency of this area tremendously.
